Cat Trappin

Well when Tim got to the office (Wednesday) today he found one cat in the trap but it wasn't Momma Kitty. It was one of her kittens from last spring. The cat is now at Alabama Spay Neuter being fixed and we will pick it up on Friday and release it where it has been living for a year. Momma Kitty - you're next. "Smokey" was released by into the wild on Friday after being neutered, getting shots and having his ear clipped. The ear being clipped indicated that the animal has been fixed. One down...

Cat Trappers

Tim and I are trying to trap a feral cat right now and hope we have a catch this morning. Checked the trap last night at 9:00 and Momma Kitty had eaten but didn't spring the trap. Smart kitty. Crossing my fingers that we have her this a.m. If we do, it is off to the spay and neuter clinic to be fixed. Here kitty...

On the Brow in Mentone

No pet jobs this weekend and I guess it is because we are in between Spring break and Easter. Since we weren't busy with pet jobs, we took off for the mountains of Mentone. We are staying in this wonderful cabin as guests of Toby, Millie and Rosie, just a few of our clients that you may have read about. This cabin is on the "Brow" and has the most incredible view. Sunset yesterday was beautiful.

Speaking of views, yesterday we went to DeSoto Falls, DeSoto Park (always checking out the camp sites) and finished the day at Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia. More later, we are off to explore more of this region.

Iditarod XXXVIII

Well Lance Mackey has done it again in spectacular style. He is the only man to ever win 4 in a row. At times I felt like I was by his side when all of the sudden I would get a chill.
Rev and Maple plus 9 other dogs went the entire distance with Lance. I did too in heart and on GPS thru the Iditarod website. If you don't know anything about the greatest race on Earth, you need to watch a movie. These dogs have heart.
Sleep well my friend Lance and congrats. I look forward to seeing you win five in a row next year. Gooooooooooooo Lance go! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhooooooooooooo!

Our Spring Break Before Your Spring Break!

We had a chance to get away due to the warm weekend ahead we headed to Tannehill for our first camp outing of 2010. Our campsite (332) is on a stream with a babbling brook. Combine the crackling of the campfire with the gentle sounds from the brook, and top that with the bird singing and you have your own piece of Ole' Beautiful. Imagine150 years ago these hills protected our soldiers and ammunition foundry at the beginning of the Civil war. Each Memorial day a battle from the war is reeacted and one day the South wins and the next day the North wins. It is so realistic with the canons, the horses, the period tents and the cotilion that night.

The boys, Jack and Forest, came camping on Friday and Saturday night and really enjoyed the sunshine as well as the heat of the fire and the colors from the Christmas lights.

But we took them back so we could ride our bikes around the park. It is exceptionally beautiful right now with the leaves on the ground. Weather was great and it was a great ride. We love our bikes that we got this past summer from Cahaba Cycle.

Once we got back from our ride around the park, IditaTrish had to check out the Iditarod Dog Sled Race that started in Anchorage today and will finish in Nome which is 1149 miles away in about 9-10 days depending on alot of things; weather, dogs, strategy. This is truly the Greatest Race on Earth.

Remember Roller Derby?

In memory of an avid animal lover and rescuer, Sarah Stanfield" aka "Sally Slaughter", the Tragic City Rollers are dedicating their game to their fallen team mate. I don't know Sarah but I did read an article in The Birmingham News about her. It appears she touched many people in her short life. The Tragic City Rollers take on the Soul City Sirens from Augusta, Georgia on March 14 @ 7:pm at the Zamora Temple. Come on out for some exciting skating. http://www.tragiccityrollers.com/ To prepare for this game I watched the movie, Whip It! this weekend. Wahoo - we be jamming!

It's Miller Time...

Miller can find something to eat anywhere. We put out some bread for the birds to munch on and he found it.

The "Animules"

This past week we visited with Toby, Millie (right) and Rosie again. These animules were sweet as ever. Toby didn't really get into his walks like he normally does; not sure if it was the cold or the coat?

Iditarod XXXVIII

The first Saturday in March is coming up and that means a 1149 mile trek across Alaska is about to begin. Last year Tim and I were in Anchorage for the "Offical Start" and talk about exciting. This photo is of Lancy Mackey who has won 3 years (three-peat) in a row; can he do it again this year?? He beat cancer a few years back with the help of his dogs so my money is on Mackey. To follow the race, which will last about 9 days check out http://www.iditarod.com/
